The Route 19A Fine Art Exhibition 

Sept. 14th & 15th, 10 am – 4 pm at the Lighthouse Communtiy Centre in Qualicum Bay22 pipe and drape artist booths in the Main Hall.     Check back after June 15 for artists’ names and locations.  Entry Deadline June 15

This exhibit is an event for fine artists to present and promote their work professionally, and to connect with collectors/followers in real-time. The artists chosen will feature work that is created with a skillful understanding of the medium in their own authentic voice/style.   Booth numbers are limited to 22 pipe and drape, 10×10 sections.  The juror’s scores will guide the organizers to create an engaging layout. The exhibit will feature a large percentage of 2D painters punctuated with skilled artists who work in other mediums ie: Jewelry, Sculpture, photography, and textiles, to create a tantalizing and intriguing experience for visitors to the exhibit.

  • Where is the exhibit located? 

    • The Lighthouse Hall is located in a central location between Nanaimo and the Comox Valley making it easily accessible to mid-island artists.  15 mins north of Qualicum Beach and 35 mins south of Courtenay/Comox, 40 mins north of Nanaimo.

  • Local Accommodations?

  • What is the Set up / Take down schedule

    • The hall will be open for set up from 3pm to 8pm on Sept 13

    • Take down to be completed after 4pm on Sept 15

  • What other art-related events have been held at the Lighthouse community center?

    • The Hall has a history of accommodating various art events including the Island Arts Expo 2009-2014, The late Ken Kirkby’s fine art fundraisers, the 1st annual Route 19A Art exhibit, and various art workshops.

  • What does the $150 fee cover?

    • Two-day pipe and drape booth setup rental with lights, 

    • Peoples Choice Award for best booth

    • Printed brochures

    • Media exposure

    • Individual artist promotion

    • Artist links on the route19a.com site

  • Do I have to stay the full  2 days with my booth?

    • Yes, you or a representative.  This show is for artists to meet, create relationships, and promote themselves to possible buyers or followers of their work. It is also a chance to network with other fine artists and support each other out by banding together to promote the fine arts sector on the island.  

  • What kind of artists/artwork are you looking for? 

    • Visual art: painting, photography, textiles, jewelry design, sculpture

  • How to display artwork?

    • Artists are responsible for bringing display equipment

    • Banners are permitted to be hung from wall pipes

    • Do not hang artwork or any heavy articles from top pipes

The artist must show a good understanding of their medium of choice and display a high level of skill. The artwork shown must be the original creation of the artist with an emphasis on technical ability and artistic accomplishment.

Note: Artists wishing to participate in both the EXHIBITION AND STUDIO TOUR must complete separate application forms.
